Abstract

We have recently reported developmental and ageing changes in soluble and membrane-bound aminopeptidase (AP) activities in selected tissues of the rat (Ramirez, Arechaga, Sanchez, Ozaita and Lardelli 1993). The ages studied were 1, 6, 12 and 24 month-old rats and the tissues were lung, kidney, liver, adrenal, brain and serum. Significant age-related changes were observed in all the tissues and for all the assayed enzymatic activities. In general, the highest levels were detected in both the youngest and the oldest animals, and the lowest ones in 6 and 12 month-old rats.
