Abstract

The effects of maternal malnutrition on changes in DNA content and DNAse activity during normal growth of rat placenta were studied. As a result of maternal malnutrition, a significant decrease in specific activity of DNAse in the early stages of placental development was observed. The low DNA content found in the placenta of the malnourished group is in agreement with the comparatively low DNAse activity.
