Abstract

When stage 2 of the “Heavy-Duty On-Board Diagnosis” (HD OBD) legislation comes into effect on October 1, 2008, the requirements on monitoring strategies will be much stricter. For the manufacturers of commercial vehicles, this will produce a further development area that is demanded by the legislator. This article by IAV GmbH provides an overview of the main legislative requirements and describes the technical measures that can be implemented to meet these demands in developing drive electronics and in vehicle calibration.
