Development Predication of Chinese Large-scale Design Institutes upon the Assessment of Data Published by ENR

Abstract

Since Chinese Large-scale Design Institutes are facing the great opportunities and challenges brought out by globalization, optimistic re-structure of Chinese economy and implementation of the "going out" strategy of opening up, it is very meaningful to have a correct assessment and predication for future development. By analyzing the data published by ENR during the past seven years, the correlative relationships between international leading engineering and design companies and globalization are found out. Following this, the comparisons among engineering and design companies in different countries are conducted with the consideration of economic development difference. Finally taking the above assessment as reference, Chinese large-scale design institutes future development trends are predicated. Chinese large-scale design institutes will step into the top level player list soon with the strong domestic market. However, they are much behind the Western competitors in the international market. It would be possible that Chinese large-scale design institutes will not be able to touch the middle and high end international market if the global network and unified working platform cannot be established as soon as possible.
