Abstract

One of the international languages used today is the English. To be able to compete and go forward, one important thing is that the main assets of foreign languages in addition to their own language that is understood. In communicating, support tools used today is the smartphone. Seeing the needs and opportunities in terms of communication, the author makes the study, namely: a translator application Indonesian and English which is expected to help users to be able to master the languages. In terms of vocabulary, sentence and also pronunciation, this application was made based on smartphone to be accessible easily anywhere and anytime. In this study, the method used is SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) using waterfall models. In this method there are phases of analysis, system design phase, testing phase, and the phase of publication. This application is built using the Android operating system as the basis. MIT App Inventor is a tool that is used to build applications. This tool is a visual programming Framework scratch from MIT. Specifically, an implementation of the Open Block was distributed by MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program. A result from this study is a digital translator application Bahasa and English based on Android.
