Abstract

The development of the high output power and ultra-wide band Millimeter wave travelling wave tube (TWT) using staggered double vane slow wave structure (SDV-SWS) combined with planar alignment electron beams are investigated in this paper. It is found that the first two modes of SDV-SWS can be used simultaneously to match with the same electron beam energy to promote the beam-wave interaction bandwidth greatly. Also the novel two stages SDV structures are incorporated to suppress the beam-wave interaction oscillation effectively. Particle in cell (PIC) simulations with planar alignment three beams SDV-TWT can produce over 2.12 kW of peak power with the 3dB bandwidth of 28 GHz in W-band. And the sheet beam SDV-TWT in G-band can also produce over 590W of peak power with the 3dB bandwidth over 70 GHz.
