Abstract

Currently, the attribution of ancient artifacts has acquired urgent relevance for the study of museum collections of furniture in Russia. The author of the article selected these subjects from the collections and included them in the zone of independent study. The principle of dating these objects was established by the first third of the twentieth century and is currently being revised using a comprehensive method of historical research. In the context of this problem, the experience of predecessors who studied this problem, in particular, in the second half of the twentieth century, is analyzed. This period was marked by a qualitatively new approach to the study of the history of ancient furniture, the introduction of new information into scientific circulation, but the principle of attribution of specific monuments preserves the achievements of scientists of the first third of the twentieth century.
