Abstract
The article systematizes the key theoretical principles that influence the formation of the foundations and essence of environmental safety, and also proposes an assessment approach that makes it possible to diagnose the level of environmental safety in order to avoid additional costs associated with the development and implementation of an environmental safety system, and a set of environmental measures to improve it. By applying this approach, it becomes possible to create sustainable systems based on efficient use of resources and support for environmental sustainability.
