Abstract

This study aims to obtain land characteristics and land use directions for the development of superior plantation commodities in the Pining Sub-District. The method used is the survey method. The characteristics for each unit of the land map from the results of overlays (overlapping) become the basis for further analysis to match (matching) the growing conditions of each of these superior commodities. From the results of overlying soil type maps, slope maps, rainfall maps, and altitude maps of places obtained 5 Land Map Units (SPL). SPL1 with an area of 426.5 Ha, SPL 2 318.61 Ha, SPL 3 293.41 Ha, SPL 4 270.58 Ha, and SPL 5 with an area of 200.11 Ha. Cocoa commodities have a potential land suitability class of S2 (quite appropriate) with factors limiting temperature, rainfall, alkaline saturation, pH H2O, and slopes. Meanwhile, coconut commodities have a potential land suitability class of S2 (quite appropriate) with factors limiting temperature, rainfall, alkaline saturation, PH H2O, drainage, texture, and slopes. Furthermore, the direction of land use for the development of agricultural commodities is cocoa with an area of 1,314.25 ha, and coconut commodities with an area of 1,489.11 ha.
