Abstract

Strip-Readout Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (SR-PPACs) have been developed in Center for Nuclear Study (CNS) aiming at high detection efficiency for high-intensity heavy ions based on Delay-line-readout PPAC. A readout circuit board was newly designed for the strip-readout method, and an analysis method using charge difference among two adjacent strips was developed. We achieved high detection efficiency above 99% for 115-MeV/nucleon -132Xe beams with a beam intensity of 700 kppp (particles per pulse). The achieved position resolution was about 240μm (FWHM).
