Abstract
Our laboratory develops microsatellite onboard Circular Polarized Synthetic Aperture Radar (CPSAR) that has an advantage of compactness and low power requirement. Additionally the transmission of CP microwave is not affected by Faraday rotation effect in the ionosphere, comparing to linear polarized systems especially at the L band. The CP-SAR onboard small satellite is required to be lightweight and resistant to heat and shock. This paper presents a development of circular polarized microstrip antenna using Kevlar honeycomb core as the substrates. The results show good characteristics of the antennas except the axial ratio. The reason of insufficient axial ratio is assumed as fabrication error of the radiator and microstripline.
