Abstract
Industry 4.0 lead to major challenges concerning the development of digital solutions. In particular, SMEs seem to struggle with the selection and development of them. While technical solutions are already tangible, the risks and their effects on and interaction with other aspects of value creation are not clear. Industry 4.0 requires not only a technical view, rather a socio-technical perspective with the consideration of the dimensions technology, organization and human. To support the risk-optimized development process, we developed app. 40 so called solution patterns. These provide generalized information from Best Practices of Industry 4.0 in the socio-technical dimensions. To determine consistent and risk-optimized pattern implementation paths, the relationships between the different patterns must be taken into account. In this submission, we therefore present a methodology to illustrate the pattern relationships and put them in a consistent order. It includes tools such as so-called pattern systems or a roadmap template as well as a procedure model for the use of the patterns and pattern systems. By using the methodology, we ensure that the transfer of the generalized pattern information into the individual implementation paths is risk-optimized and takes into account all three dimensions of technology, human and organization.
