Abstract

Modern oil field pumps are widely used in drilling and operation of wells. Most of the pumps used in drilling oil wells are centrifugal pumps. Centrifugal pumps fail for many reasons after a long period of operation. One of the most important parts of these pumps is the impeller. Impeller failures lead to stoppages in centrifugal pumps. In order to prevent stoppages, it is necessary to increase longevity and extend the time between repairs, eliminate malfunctions in the impeller. The main causes of failure are vibration and cavitation, corrosion and wear in the pump. The article concerns the process of removing the layer by plasma spraying performed to increase the resistance to corrosion and wear of the centrifugal pump impeller. Chromium, nickel, tungsten and molybdenum scraps were used to obtain this layer. Keywords: Centrifugal pump, impeller, erosion, cavitation, plasma method, layer removal, stops.
