Summary

Introduction

Reading is the activity of responding, analyzing, interpreting what the reader does to get the message the writer wants to convey in the written media. According to Grabe and Stoller (2002: 13), these skills include (1) remembering the main ideas and explanations in the text, (2) recognizing and building a rhetorical framework that organizes the text, (3) connecting the text with the reader's background knowledge. The benefits of developing teaching materials include (1) making learning activities more attractive, (2) providing opportunities to learn independently and reducing dependence on teacher presence, and (3) providing convenience in learning competencies that must be mastered. This learning system design model requires a thorough systematic process. Based on the above explanation, it is necessary to have research that aims to (1) describe the process of developing Indonesian teaching materials using the Dick and Carey model, (2) ) describe the quality of reading teaching materials in Indonesian using the Dick and Carey model, which consists of a) the validity of Indonesian reading teaching materials, b) the effectiveness of Indonesian reading teaching materials, and the practicality of reading teaching materials in Indonesian using the Dick and Carey model
