Abstract

A PC-based software system has been developed to expedite the generation of procedures for laser welding of carbon manganese steels. Graphical user interfaces, comprising information contained in current draft European standards, facilitate data acquisition and presentation. An analytical process model provides a means of simulating weld properties, enabling preliminary welding procedure specifications to be produced quickly. Following experimental validation, satisfactory procedures and test results can be archived in a database for future use. The system is evaluated by generating a procedure for CO2 laser welding of a high strength structural steel.A PC-based software system has been developed to expedite the generation of procedures for laser welding of carbon manganese steels.
