Abstract
An attempt has been made to develop porous concrete with recycled concrete aggregate for practical use. The mechanical properties of porous concrete with fully natural aggregate, porous concrete with fully recycled aggregate and porous concrete with both natural and recycled (50:50) aggregate have been studied. Recycled concrete aggregates were derived from the old crushed concrete cubes (already tested). The coefficient of water permeability by constant head method for concrete with natural aggregate, with recycling aggregate and with both aggregate (50:50) using in the range of 0.97 mm/s to 1.22 mm/s which is high enough to used as a drainage pavement for ground water recharge. The compressive, flexural and tensile strength of porous concrete with recycled concrete aggregate is comparatively less than that of porous concrete with natural aggregate of similar mixture. However, the deficiency can be improved by the use of a combination of natural and recycled aggregate (50:50).
