Abstract

Information Technology (IT) is one of the most rapidly evolving, widely used, and pervasive high technologies in the world today. The level of a country's IT is a prominent indication of its capacity for innovation. The history of the development of science and technology reveals that it formerly took a long time to turn scientific discoveries and technological innovations into industrial applications. Much of the time, it is not a lack of potential to make progress but a lack of nerve and knowledge to innovate that stands in the way. In many circumstances, it is not a lack of possibility for breakthroughs but a lack of confidence in victory that prevents from achieving success. From an objective survey of the development history of the Chinese IT industry, one can perceive a buildup of energy, and has every reason to expect that breakthroughs on the way. The country will undoubtedly become a world leader in IT as long as it perseveres on the path of developing the IT industry with Chinese characteristics.
