Abstract

Being able to generate an operator assignment schedule for a ( m) multi-stage, ( n) operator production line, with n less or equal to m, and with multiple objectives, is a problem which continues to exist both in the literature and in practice. This paper illustrates how weighted backward dynamic programming and simulation can be combined in a decision support system (DSS) to address such a problem and to evaluate the characteristics of a dynamic production line.
