Abstract

The current study proposed a green, eco-friendly approach for the preparation of zinc oxide nanoparticles using leaf extract of Nigella sativa plant extract. The synthesized ZnO NPs were characterized using techniques such as FESEM, EDS, UV–Vis, FTIR and XRD. The findings obtained from DLS and FESEM revealed the formation of polydisperse ZnO NPs with an average particle size of 45 nm. Further, antidiabetic studies revealed that the treatment of diabetic mice with ZnO NPs revealed the recovery of glycogen, insulin and blood glucose levels. In addition, the present results also revealed the potential characteristics of fabricated ZnO NPs with better efficacy and low cost than the alternative treatments for diabetes. Further, this work opened the possibilities for future studies, primarily with respect to the development of new drugs for use in diabetic wound care during sports training.
