Abstract

In this work, fabrication of new electrochemical urea biosensor based on ferrocene-poly(amidoamine) (Fc-PAMAM) dendrimers incorporated with multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is reported. Bio-sensing electrode was characterized using cyclic voltammogram where optimization studies were performed for reusability, storage, interference behaviors together with optimum temperature and pH parameters. Electrode showed excellent performance in urea detection with wide linear range of 0.2–1.8mM, detection limit of 0.05mM, fast response of 3s, and sensitivity of 1.085μA/cm2/mM. Final assessment of electrochemical biosensor was real sample application which was performed in healthy human blood sample where excellent performance in selectivity and sensitivity of the bio-electrode was observed. Fabricated bio-sensing electrode has great potential in urea measurement applications.
