Abstract
Numerous works have been carried out in the field of recognition using artificial neural network, based on audio, video and image processing. Face recognition has been found to be one of the major topics of interest in this field. Recognition of moods opens its ways, when it comes to face recognition. Face recognition can pave its ways to new ideology of recognising human moods. This paper focuses on development of a NN classifier for recognition of human moods from facial expressions. Apart from a normal mood and the six basic moods (anger, disgust, fear, sad, surprise and happy), the three added moods viz. contempt, courage and desire forms the new and unique feature of this work. Gabor filter and principal component analysis have been utilised for feature extraction and neural network as classifier for classifying various moods on the basis of various face features related to the moods.
