Abstract

A new mode-superposition technique is proposed for calculating the frequency response of the structural systems and coupled acoustic-structural systems with modal damping. The new technique with an improved compensation method is suitable for truncating the lower-and/or higher-frequency modes, provided these modes are beyond interested frequency domain of a frequency response analysis. It will be demonstrated that the use of this technique greatly improves convergence and makes it possible to determine response with better accouracy and efficiency than the mode-displacement method, the mode-acceleration method and Hansteen-Bell's method.
