Abstract
Floods quite often create emergency situations that threaten the life and health of the population. The relevance of the study is associated with significant economic damage, as well as a threat to human life and health as a result of flooding of territories. The purpose of the work is to develop a model for calculating the flood zone of coastal areas. The developed algorithm and the model built on its basis make it possible to determine the boundaries of zones of flooded areas and their areas, as well as to design flood forecasts at various water levels online, using only a digital elevation model as input data. Using satellite imagery data, possible flood zones were calculated for a number of territories located on different continents. During the study, the coastal flood zone was visualized using the proposed model. It is proposed to use visualization based on this model, first of all, to identify residential buildings and industrial structures falling into the flood zone. An electronic map of flood zones at different water levels is of practical importance and allows you to assess the risk of flooding and prevent possible emergency situations in a timely manner.
