Abstract

A monolithic time-to-amplitude converter (TAC) integrated circuit was designed and fabricated with a semicustom bipolar IC technology. A 16-channel CAMAC TDC (time-to-digital converter) module was fabricated with this integrated circuit to be used for a time-of-flight (TOF) measurement with a scintillation counter system. Its resolution was designed to be 50 ps, and the temperature coefficient of the TAC IC was negligibly small based on a simulation. This performance was achieved by using the differential TAC technique. >
