Abstract

Electrochemically catalytic Ag particles in nano-range were in situ incorporated into the 15 um thick cathode consisting of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-d and Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 (GDC) via a citrate infiltration method. The Ag-impregnation route ensures very homogeneous particle dispersion and good adhesion of Ag to the ceramic matrices. The functional cathode was successfully operated on the Ni-cermet-supported (ZrO2)0.89 (Sc2O3)0.1(CeO2)0.01 electrolyte with a GDC buffer layer under a micro-tubular configuration, producing maximum power density of 1.06 W cm-2 (1.43 A cm-2, 0.74 V), 0.98 W cm-2 (1.78 A cm- 2, 0.55 V), 0.49 W cm-2 (1.44 A cm-2, 0.34 V) at 650, 600, 550 {degree sign}C, respectively.
