Abstract
Load modeling has a significant impact on power system dynamic analysis. In this paper, load models for modeling dynamic behaviors of reactive loads are developed. Six load models proposed in literature for modeling dynamic behaviors of reactive loads are studied and examined. Numerical results indicate that first-order induction motor model can be developed to satisfactorily capture the dynamic behaviors of reactive loads while composite load models can be developed to accurately capture the dynamic behaviors of reactive loads. The issues of estimation accuracy and model complexity are examined to evaluate the estimation performance of each model. Load models for modeling dynamic behaviors of reactive loads are recommended.
