Development of ionospheric absorption associated with stratospheric warmings in 1958 and 1963

Abstract

The development of ionospheric absorption associated with major stratospheric sudden warmings which occurred in January 1958 and 1963 has been investigated using the ionospheric parameter f min . This morphological study and certain other results concerning stratospheric warmings and anomalous Winter absorption suggest a mechanism for the possible interaction between these phenomena.
