Abstract

saying that we are profoundly amused, deeply aided and greatly helped by your interesting address, Mr. Ambassador. We shall always remember it. The next speaker cannot be with us in the body, but he is with us in the spirit. The Representative to the United Nations from the United States, Senator Austin, has prepared for us his address which will be delivered to us in a moment by one of our most precious and distinguished members, Professor Jessup. I think we all ought to be very grateful for Senator Austin's contribution soon to be made, partly because he holds the job that he does hold. You know his remarks are always entirely fictional on such occasions. My first duty is to bring you the very warm greetings and the profound regrets of Ambassador Austin who almost at the last moment found that his official duties in New York made it impossible for him to come here tonight as he had expected and hoped to do. He asked me to come down and read his address to you. It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to be able to come and read this on his behalf tonight. This is Ambassador Austin's address:
