Abstract
Smart manufacturing is the next industrial revolution, with the vision of improving traditional industrial manufacturing process through intelligent manufacturing by combining advanced manufacturing and digital technologies to create a new industrial age. In the new era of manufacturing process, product development is driven by the customers. The paper is aimed at the development of intelligent sheet metal coil leveling machine for smart manufacturing system. Technological concepts such as cyber physical system (CPS), internet of things (IoT), and big data are implemented in the coil leveling machine development. In this research, the mechatronic integration and mechanical design of the coil leveling machine has been completed. Preliminary analytical studies on modeling of leveling roller indentation is performed for cyber physical system model to demonstrate the feasibility and potential of integrating intelligent technologies in sheet metal coil leveling machine.
