Abstract

The National Metrology Institute of Japan is developing a reference inductance standard using air dielectric coaxial transmission lines that can be used up to the gigahertz range. In this paper, inductance determination steps for a lossy air line were presented. In addition, a verification procedure by comparing electrically determined length le and measurement‐determined length lm was considered. In practice, the inductances of a 60‐mm‐long air line are determined and verified at the measurement frequency from 0.05 to 10 GHz. No significant difference was observed between le and lm. Therefore, the determined inductances from 0.05 to 10 GHz were considered verified. © 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
