Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide an optimum indication for individualized education for many students in a WWW environment by developing an intelligent CAI system, which provides the information response to the student corresponding to the understanding degree by using fuzzy inference.In fuzzy inference, it is important to find the boundary values for the fuzzy parameter. In this paper, the attention coefficient which depends on the student's score and the time needed to complete the given problem, is derived by applying a statistical analysis on a S-P table. This coefficient is then applied to find the boundary value for the fuzzy parameter. By using this method, wedeveloped an intelligent CAI system and made courseware of electromagnetic field exercises for an example of the system. We have described how the CAI system can efficiently manage a database for many students, and practice the individualized education.
