Abstract

This paper deals with the development of real time simulation for a Hybrid Wind — Tidal Power System. We present an advanced research device composed by two real time emulators, a wind turbine emulator and a tidal turbine emulator. As the chosen HILS concept needs real values (speed or torque in our case), it's emulators that provide this information. We can then study and develop the investigated part of the system, which performs the energy conversion consisting of generator, static converters, the electrical load or network. We perform classical analytical modeling of the wind turbine and tidal turbine chains for two reasons. The first one is we are able to modify, if necessary, static characteristics and turbines models. The second, we can develop emulators' control conceived for a specific interface system.
