Abstract

The production of Ordinary Portland cement concrete causes havoc to the environment due to the emission of CO2 in the production of cement as well as mining which results in unrepairable damage to nature. Geopolymer concrete, a cement free concrete is an innovative green concrete in which binding properties are developed by the interaction of alkaline solutions with a source material that is rich in silica and alumina. Fly Ash, a byproduct of coal obtained from the thermal power plant is rich in silica and alumina which on reacting with alkaline solution produces aluminosilicate gel that acts as the binding material for the concrete. Geopolymer concrete develop high compressive strength on heat curing promising to be an ecofriendly substitute for ordinary Portland cement concrete in some applications. This paper briefly put the light on the development of high strength geopolymer concrete with the help of Alccofine which is a micro fine GGBS based material.
