Abstract

Cold rolled steel sheets with excellent formability have been developed by using the RH–degassing process and hot rolling technology. These steel sheets contribute to lower alloying and lower energy consumption, and meet the needs of the automotive industry. Recently, for DDQ/EDDQ products, ultra–low carbon steel sheets with titanium or niobium added have been used as a substitute for decarburized annealing steel sheets. In this paper, the technical background and mechanical properties of new steels will be introduced, based on the recent developments in steel–making and hot rolling technology in Nippon Kokan, Kawasaki.
