Abstract

In general, finishing materials used in nuclear power plants and auxiliary buildings are designed in accordance with NRC documents, in terms of their design, construction, and fire safety. However, only a few finishing materials produced in Korea have been certified relative to their fire-retardant performance, based on fire laboratory testing in the USA. In this study, to establish fire safety guidelines on finishing materials, designed in Korea, for nuclear power plants, related building regulations have been compared with codes, fire testing has been performed in Korea and the USA on the same specimens, and the fire safety guidelines have been established for the finishing materials.
