Abstract

Synchrotron white-beam tomography has important applications for temporally evolving or highly absorbing samples. The polychromatic nature of the white beam results in beam hardening artifacts unless measures are taken to correct these artifacts. Moreover, while the absorption tomography data show the morphology of samples, for some applications, the ability to probe crystallographic phase would enhance both the interpretation of the tomography data and the overall understanding of the sample. This work will describe developments at the 7-BM beamline of the Advanced Photon Source to both effectively correct for the polychromatic nature of the white beam and to provide energy-dispersive diffraction data which can be coupled with white-beam tomography.
