Abstract

For healthy and successful aging, remaining active and eating well appear to be very important. These two behaviors need to be supported and maintained through educational interventions. This paper describes the development of teaching modules for nutrition education and physical activity, based on needs assessment and identified barriers, facilitators and motivational factors among four groups of immigrant older adults. Seven modules on nutrition education and six modules on physical activity are described, including textual content and educational goals. Modifying behaviors related to nutrition and physical activity can have profound effects on the health status of the older population.
