Abstract

In this paper, a dual BLDC motor drive system for driving an electric rebar bending machine which is widely used in various construction sites. A new motor drive system has been developed by replacing the universal motor-based drive system widely used in the conventional rebar bending machine with a slotless BLDC motor-based dual motor system. The proposed drive results in enhanced output power and reduced volume and weight of the bending machine. Design, development, and experimental results has been presented to verify the performance and feasibility of the proposed dual motor drive system for a small portable rebar bending machine.
