Abstract
As the world are undergoing energy transition in achieving more sustainable society, higher penetration of renewable energy resources is to be expected in the energy sector. However, its intermittent and location variant nature creates differences between electricity supply and demand, endangering the stability of the power system. Demand-side management system is expected to play a major role in providing flexibility to the grid through demand response scheme by regulating the residential consumers' appliance usage such as heat pump water heater, battery storage, etc. Although the potential of procurable flexibility is massive by aggregating the flexibility offered by all potential consumers, it is practically impossible to expect participation from all consumers. In this paper, we present a constructive DR model in procuring flexibility when consumers participation status to the scheme is considered. The consumers are given dynamic electricity pricing to optimize their electricity usage while providing flexibility. The simulation results show the behavioral pattern of the consumers within the DR scheme.
