Abstract

Workload studies and efficiency evaluation of water deliveries plus savings of pump costs justify the installation of automatic supervisory control for irrigation facilities and deepwell pumps. Due to the fact that the Salt River Project irrigation system is the oldest multipurpose irrigation project in the United States and is now in the transition of converting many of the farm lands into urban development, new problems have been created, making this type of installation feasible. The hydraulic design of the gates and changes in operation of the delivery system have been thoroughly studied and integrated into the application of the remote supervisory control.
