Development of an Integrated Outpatient (Office) Procedure Suite – An Evaluation of Acceptability to Patients; Staff and Utilisation of Resources

Abstract

To describe a unique dedicated gynaecological integrated procedure suite and assess the staff and patient benefits especially acceptability. The suite was developed from a 4 bedded inpatient ward which was converted to include a clean utility room for tray preparation and storage; a dirty utility for storage of use trays until list completion; a private changing area and a dedicated procedure room. The procedure room includes ceiling mounted, footswitch controlled lighting; ceiling mounted boomed monitors with touch screen control of the devices which are mounted in the custom built furniture.
