Abstract

In order to be able to control the growth of commercial traffic on the roads several systems will be introduced which will enhance the dynamical behaviour of heavy vehicles. One of these will be the Steer-by-Wire (electronic or electro-hydraulic steering), which will provide an opportunity for the other systems to intervene into the vehicle's directional control. One of the straightforward applications is the combined action of the brake and steering system based vehicle dynamic control. This paper introduces the application of ESP and steer-by-wire systems together in order to increase the vehicle stability at different driving conditions.
