Abstract
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the development of an education system that focuses on the aspect of user's motivation. The system should be an interesting and highly attractive computer assisted instruction (CAI) system, to be used as a resultant support tool for an operator's voluntary learning. Such a system is reasoned to become more important for operators. The system was developed using the following procedure: (1) survey of the actual CAI system, (2) survey of the attractive systems, (3) building the concept for the attractive CAI system and the organization of educational materials, and (4) construction of the prototype system and its verification by operators. The operators are interviewed about the actual CAI system they had used and their opinions are collated. Considering attractiveness as a function of motivation some existing systems are surveyed such as computer game software, CAI for school use, and application software. For the survey on attractive systems, Computer games were finally selected as a typical attractive system.
