Abstract

The mechanical alloying of 'aluminium+nanodiamond' mixtures for more than 8 h leads to the formation of aluminium carbide. To avoid this, the break-up of primary agglomerates should be performed during the production of a non-carbide-forming copper matrix composite (in the event that this metal is included in the required aluminium alloy), which is then followed by processing with aluminium. As a result, the time of processing a composite containing aluminium is reduced by 5-7 times, and the formation of aluminium carbide is prevented.
