Abstract

In Georgia, during the transition period, the transformation of the agricultural sector is going through difficult processes. Existing economic organizational forms were dismantled as part of the Soviet system and organizational-economic forms based on market principles could not yet be fully formatted. As a result, during the transition period, primary agricultural production was mainly dominated by households, which is characterized with low competitiveness due to less access to modern technologies in the field, scarce resources and insufficient opportunities for market-economic factors. These factors appeared more sharply in Adjara A/R, which, compared to other regions, is more distinguished by small households, high fragmentation, small contour, harsh natural-climatic conditions, etc. It is important, to consider the experience of developed countries to have clear responses to the challenges. Firstly, agricultural cooperation must be promoted and developed, which will be achieved through the implementation of programs with the financial and technical support of state and international donor organizations.
