Abstract

Hand-to-hand fighting – one of the types of martial arts – requires of athletes agility and coordination. Objective. To substantiate the effectiveness of using exercises for the development of coordination and agility of athletes who specialize in hand-to-hand fighting. Methods. Analysis of scientific literature, testing, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. A special training program focused on the development of agility and coordination through the use of hand-to-hand fighting strictly specific training means was developed. Its efficiency was confirmed by specially developed for hand-to-hand fighting tests, which included not only hand-to-hand fighting specific motor action, but also mandatory coordination and agility components. According to the results of all tests, after six months of implementation, it has been found that the indices of agility and coordination have significantly improved. Even a relatively small amount of work using exercises of high coordination complexity and manifestation of dexterity leads to significant improvement of agility and coordination of athletes of different skill levels.
