Abstract

We have developed an all-solid-state tunable continuous-wave coherent light source near 209 nm using two-stage frequency doubling of a Ti:sapphire laser. Two-stage frequency doubling was carried out with two enhancement cavities. A 209 nm output power of 100 µW was obtained with a single β-BaB2O4(BBO) crystal in the second-stage doubling. Compensation of the walk-off of the 209 nm radiation was also performed with two BBO crystals and an output power of 310 µW was obtained. The light source described here can be used satisfactorily for spectroscopy in the deep ultraviolet region.
