Abstract

The tri-axial load cell of cantilever type was designed for an axial force (F z ) and two bending forces (F x , F y ) measurement necessary to fracture toughness study. The load cell consists of three Wheatstone full bridge circuits to increase the high sensitivity and compensate the ambient temperature. The components of three forces are successfully decoupled with the reasonable construction of bridge circuits. The calibration curves confirmed that the effects of each force coupling were negligible, and showed the linearity without any hysteresis.
