Abstract

The use of CCD cameras for construction of systems for automated control of laser beam machining technological processes is an urgent task due to low cost of the equipment used and high information content of the resulting graphic data. The main goal of the study is to achieve the maximum information content of the working area image of the tool by ensuring its highest contrast by selecting the optimal relative position of the system components. As a result of the experiments, it was found that the most effective configuration of video recording system is lateral position of camera and illumination, opposed the movement direction of laser head. The methodology for comparing the contrast of obtained images from CCD cameras for various configurations in order to mathematically evaluate their applicability for automated processing tasks is proposed.
