Abstract
As the demand for power increases, electric fire accidents of power devices are increasing. Main cause of the electric fire accidents is insulation failure of power devices such as watt meters and switchgear. In Republic of Korea, 25.7% of economic losses from electric fire accidents are accounted for by fire accidents caused by insulation degradation. The purpose of this study is to develop an IoT -based smart sensor with built-in ultrasonic sensors with 40kHz frequency bandwidth to prevent electrical fires in power devices. Four major partial discharge are simulated by using an AC power supply with a capacity of 100kV and a sphere-to-plane electrode system. It is found that major discharges that can cause electric fires are detected by a ultrasonic sensor and transmitted to a server in real-time through LoRa W An(long range wide area network) technology.
